Supporting UK researchers and innovators by ensuring their continued involvement in European research and innovation opportunities.
The Guarantee has helped UK researchers and innovators pursue new ideas, develop technologies and maintain international partnerships.
As of 1 April 2026, the Guarantee had supported:
- £2.2 billion in grant offers
- 4,386 grant offers to UK researchers and innovators
- more than 870 UK organisations
- collaborations with 145 countries.
Delivered by UK Research and Innovation (UKRI), the Guarantee covered calls from Horizon Europe Work Programmes 2021, 2022, and 2023. The Guarantee ensures that UK participants can continue their involvement in world-leading research and innovation collaborations.
The UK has been associated with Horizon Europe since January 2024. UK applicants can now receive funding directly from the European Commission for calls covered by the 2024 Work Programme onwards.
