Current discussions indicate that excellence, international collaboration and support for addressing major global challenges will remain central features of the programme. At the same time, there is stronger emphasis on strengthening Europe’s competitiveness, resilience and technological sovereignty.
FP10 is expected to remain a standalone research and innovation programme while working closely with the EU’s proposed new instrument, the European Competitiveness Fund (ECF), which aims to strengthen the pathway from research and innovation through to commercialisation and industrial deployment. The ECF brings together 14 existing funding instruments into one central instrument.
Developments on FP10 are ongoing. The European Parliament is expected to vote on its final position on 23 November. Once they have adopted a final position, the Commission, Council and Parliament will start what’s called trilogue negotiations.
The UK welcomes the proposals for FP10 and is enthusiastic to pursue discussions on FP10 association, but we are keen to ensure we can access the programme on equal and open terms right from the outset.
