The UK has been associated to Horizon Europe since January 2024, and UK applicants are eligible to receive funding directly from the European Commission for Horizon Europe calls from the 2024- 2027 Work Programme.
Researchers and businesses are encouraged to apply directly to Horizon Europe and take advantage of the vast opportunities it offers for international collaboration. Find support and advice on applying directly to Horizon Europe.
Late applications
Applications to the Guarantee have now closed. Opportunities that have closed will not reopen again, except in exceptional circumstances which will be assessed on a case-by-case basis. Contact the team directly at eugrantsfunding@ukri.org if you wish to discuss a late application.
ERC grant portability pilot scheme
Transferring an ERC grant from Europe to the UK which has already incurred expenditure is outside the scope of the UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee. However, it may be possible to move the grant to the UK under a new pilot scheme.
ERC grant holders who are considering relocating to the UK and transferring their ERC grant to a UK institution should contact the Guarantee team at eugrantsfunding@ukri.org for more information.
Applications to this scheme are reviewed on a first come, first served basis. Prospective applicants should seek approval from UKRI before terminating their ERC grant or applying to the pilot scheme, as further information will be required in order for an application to be considered.
Funding from the European Commission
There may be circumstances where UK-based organisations are not eligible to receive funding from the European Commission in Horizon Europe calls within Work Programmes 2024 to 2027. For example, where the opportunity is funded through underspends from the period before the UK was associated. In these situations, we recommend potential applicants contact their National Contact Point, and email the UKRI Guarantee team at eugrantsfunding@ukri.org.
