Profile
Paul Bello is an Innovation Lead within the Innovate UK Engineering Biology team and serves as UK National Contact Point (NCP) support across Horizon Europe Cluster 6, the Circular Bio-based Europe Joint Undertaking (CBE JU) and EUREKA SMART Advanced Manufacturing programmes.
He supports UK participation in international research and innovation funding opportunities spanning the bioeconomy, engineering biology, sustainable manufacturing, circular resources, biotechnology, food systems, agriculture and environmental innovation.
Through engagement with SMEs, industry, universities, research and technology organisations (RTOs), NGOs, investors and public-sector stakeholders, he provides strategic guidance on consortium building, partner identification, proposal development and funding opportunities.
He has managed projects across UK and European funding schemes and has contributed to proposal assessment and evaluation activities for both UK funding agencies and European programmes.
With almost ten years’ experience as an NCP and more than thirty years working across biotechnology innovation and commercialisation ecosystems, Paul combines technical, commercial and ecosystem expertise to support innovation-led growth and international collaboration.
