Welcome to the new UKRI Horizon Europe website

This new site brings together information, guidance and support previously provided through the UKRO portal, UKRI and Innovate UK Business Connect into one central service.

What does this new website cover?

The new site covers the full range of Horizon Europe funding programmes and opportunities for UK applicants and will provide a coherent and accessible experience to Horizon participants in all sectors. it site aims to be a ‘one-stop-shop’ with information and support covering the whole funding journey from pre- to post-award.

We aim to present appropriately detailed information that is relevant to UK entities, and to signpost to the European Commission and other resources ensuring website users can confidently navigate the complexities of Horizon Europe.

This new site supersedes the UKRO portal and the Innovate UK Business Connect hub, and brings together guidance on funding opportunities, information on events, and regular news updates alongside detailed information covering all Pillars and cross-cutting opportunities in Horizon Europe.

Following its launch, we will continue to work on the website to add greater depth to some of the different topic areas, including a set of new updated Factsheets which we aim to publish by the end of 2026.

Why is UKRI hosting this new website?

UKRI plays an important role in supporting UK participation in Horizon Europe. On behalf of UK Government, UKRI provides National Contact Point (NCP) services to enable UK participation in EU Framework Programmes, and we are also responsible for delivering the UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee. Through our UKRI Brussels presence, we advocate for UK research and innovation communities in Brussels and ensure that timely intelligence is shared.

This new website is the ‘front door’ to all our EU-facing support functions, and we will regularly update key information and news that ensures website users are kept abreast of funding opportunity updates and key policy developments.

What will happen to the UKRO Portal?

We recently updated our users on the new UKRI Horizon Europe website, outlining the next steps in the transition from the UKRO brand to UKRI Horizon Europe.

This new website has now replaced the UKRO portal, and visitors accessing the UKRO site will be automatically redirected to the new site,

All current UKRO information and resources will be available on the new site with the exception of funding opportunities. Instead, each funding area now links directly to open calls on the EU Funding & Tenders Portal, rather than listing them individually on our site. The number of different funding opportunities across the whole programme is too great for us to maintain an accurate record therefore the UKRI site will direct users to the relevant opportunities on the EU portal instead.

There will also be a short period where Factsheets will not be available, however we aim to have an updated set of Factsheets available by the end of 2026.

What will happen to the Innovate UK Business Connect Horizon Hub?

We are also working closely with our colleagues at Innovate UK Business Connect to sunset a lot of the content on the Horizon Europe hub, ensuring that users will be signposted to the new site.

We will continue to have an important partnership with IUK Business Connect and will co-deliver events with them.

What information will be hosted by the UKRI Corporate site?

There will be some minor changes made to the main UKRI site to avoid duplication of information, and ensure appropriate signposting to the new site.

For UKRI Horizon Guarantee grant holders, a lot of the information and resources needed for grant implementation will remain on the corporate UKRI site; this is so that relevant UKRI T&C documents can be accessed alongside.

Continuing to support UK participation in Horizon Europe

While our branding and web presence is changing, our commitment remains the same.

By bringing together the expertise of the UKRI National Contact Points, the UKRI Horizon Europe Guarantee team and UKRI Brussels under a single UKRI Horizon Europe identity, we aim to make it easier for researchers, innovators and research support professionals to access the latest news, guidance and expert support throughout their Horizon Europe journey.
