Overview
The New European Bauhaus Facility supports research and innovation that transforms neighbourhoods and the built environment.
It brings together 3 core values: sustainability, inclusion, and beauty. It also promotes participatory processes, engagement across different levels of society, industry and government, and collaboration between sectors and disciplines.
The 2025 New European Bauhaus Facility Roadmap (PDF) sets out how the Facility will be delivered from 2025 to 2027. It connects the initiative with wider priorities including climate action, circularity, biodiversity, cultural heritage, architecture, design, local democracy and participation.
Projects should involve residents and communities in developing practical solutions for buildings, public spaces and neighbourhoods. They often bring together organisations from research, architecture, design, construction, culture, technology, local government, finance and civil society.
What the New European Bauhaus funds
The New European Bauhaus funds research, testing and demonstration projects that support the sustainable, inclusive and attractive transformation of neighbourhoods.
Calls are organised around 3 main destinations.
- Destination 1: Green transformation, social inclusion and local democracy
Supporting neighbourhood transformation through community participation, inclusive design and local decision-making. - Destination 2: Circular and regenerative approaches to the built environment
Developing more sustainable approaches to buildings, construction, renovation, materials and public spaces. - Destination 3: Innovative funding and new business models
Developing investment, ownership and business models that support the long-term transformation of neighbourhoods.
These 3 destinations are set out in the New European Bauhaus Work Programme 2026–2027.
